DC3: Glide symmetry for power distribution network for satellite terminals

The Task 1.3 of the WP1 will be conducted with the doctoral project of the Doctoral Candidate 3, Mr. Jesús María JIMÉNEZ SUÁREZ.

The project will be supervised by KTH (Oscar QUEVEDO-TERUEL), SINOWAVE (Zhongxia Simon HE) and AIRBUS (Sonya AMOS).

DC3: Glide symmetry for power distribution network for satellite terminals

Objectives

  • Design of power-distribution topologies compatible with the expected advantages of the GS technology at Ka band. A wide bandwidth will be among the initial constraints.
  • Design of required components (phase shifters, couplers) in GS technology following satellite constraints (all-metal design, high-power capabilities, space and weight limitations). Different technologies will be attempted, such as holey surfaces, pin-like surfaces, artificial waveguides.
  • Design of the high-voltage integration with the Solid-State Power Amplifier (SSPA) for efficiency maximization. If necessary, techniques of harmonic tuning will be applied.
  • Prototype and measurement of the designed power distribution network.

Expected Results

Pre-designs of power distribution networks compatible to satellite constraints.
Designed GS elements and embedding in the complete network
SSPA connection in the network and estimate of its efficiency.
Designed prototypes of GS power distribution network meeting market requirements.
